It is a highly specialized work based on a huge, long-lasting and constantly rejuvenated experience, on frequent culinary journeys abroad for experiential contact with the new trends of gastronomy and the testing of classical values of foreign kitchens.
The rating of the restaurants for the “Golden Scoop” and the “Greek Cuisine Awards” concerns only the cuisine of the restaurants and nothing else. Restaurant reviews are internationally rated, thus signaling the overall level of the Greek gourmet scene on the world map.
From 2018, for the first time, the Greek Cuisine Awards are independent of the Golden Scoop, honoring the best restaurants that create a modern or traditional cuisine with a clear Greek identity, decentralizing gastronomic awards.
Each taster scores individually the dishes, he tastes and then calculates their average. Once the individual rating of each judge has been completed, the average score of the grade resulting from the average of the individual grades of all tasters comes out. This is the final grade with which each restaurant is evaluated.
The criteria taken into account for the score are:
a) The quality of the supplies
b) The chef’s technical skills
c) Harmony and balance of flavors
d) The original ingredients
e) The imaginative combinations
f) The aesthetic appearance of the dishes
g) The general feeling that finally emits the set of all individual elements
